Hi, I moved a data from a non-mac volume on an NT 4.0
server to a mac enabled volume on a 2k3 server. I'm now
getting the 12042 error everytime a Word temp file is
created.
here's the message
Event ID: 12042
Source: MacFile
Type: Error
Description: Internal server information for file "[PATH
to FILE]:
AFP_AfpInfo" was corrupted. Setting default information.

Do I need to worry about this?
(Yes I realize this is a win2k forum)

Index of the Mac enabled volume is probably corrupted
You can apply one of the method described in article 147909:
<a rel="nofollow" style='text-decoration: none;' href="http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;147909" target="_blank">http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;147909</a>
Method 5 corrupting intentionnaly Afp_IdIndex is probably the best

You can also:
- stop SFM
- suppress Mac sharing on the volume
- redefine Mac sharing on the volume
- restart SFM
(caution, re-indexing a Mac volume can spend a long time)

Note: you can display the main info stored in Afp_Info (Creator/Type) using
one or our free tool MacInfoTip or MacExplorer, see:

You're right
Seems like the resurgence of a very old "bugwhichisnotreallybug".
Go ahead MS, we are waiting for "dancing icons" in 2K3 SP1 ;-)
